Progress with Les Belles-Soeur

Ok, well first off, I didn't enjoy the script we were given very much. I have learned to appreciate and understand it a little more, but I'm still not overly fond of it. I'm sure that after understanding it in a little bit more depth I may actually enjoy performing it. Well, I guess I enjoy performing anything, even if it's not an overly strong script. Anyways, my group in the first week of having this script have gone through it and edited the parts a little bit. For example, there were many extra characters that we did not have enough actors for, so we just gave certain lines to already existing characters. Now today after actually looking up the information about the entire play, i learned that Germaine's stamps are being stolen by the other women, so I realized that one line that we had given to me (playing Germaine) says "or how about all the stamps you've stolen", which doesn't make sense for me to say because Germaine does not yet know that her stamps are being stolen. So this weekend I plan to re-write the script so it is a little less confusing for our group to run-through it all the time. That's another thing we've been doing for the last couple days. Just pretty much running through it several times. We try to understand what exactly is going on with these women and what their importance is of the script, what their moods are exactly, and who they are interacting with/ who their feelings are towards.

First Week of Drama

Ok, so the first week of Drama has been a little better than I expected it to be. When, on the first day our teacher asked us to pair up with someone we did not know and start a very awkward conversation, I was a little nervous and completely scared to death. Then afterwards when we created a little skit with that person and another couple people we didn't know, I felt way more comfortable. I feel that the grade 11/ 12 split is actually very awesome. At first I was very nervous about that also, but a lot of the grade 12's are very out there and obviously have more experience then I have with drama. They bring more ideas to the table.

I'm a little nervous for the audition coming up later this month. Already in the first week I have done a lot of reflecting on which monolouges and song I would like to do. So far, I have come up with a monolougue from Peter Pan for my modern one, because I read the original Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie over the summer and fallen in love with it. It is such an amazing story. I've also decided to do a monolouge from Romeo and Juliet. I forget who says it, but it has the words "choking gall and a preserving sweet" at the end. I'm still looking for it in my book, but I'll look it up later to figure out where it is. The song choices I have come up with keep changing, and I am extremely nervous for the singing part. One thing that makes me really, really nervous is having to do it all in one audition, because I'm afraid that after I do the one monolouge I will be way too nervous to do another one and also sing. That's going to have to take a lot of practice.

So that's what has been going through my extremely crowded crazy mind along with my other insane classes that I'm probably not allowed to ramble about, so I'll just end it here. Hope you enjoyed reading about my worries. :)
